Lagrangeville

Central Hub > Environments

The heart of the Space-Based Solar Power (SBSP) network, as well as a space settlement for cetaceans and humans generally, Lagrangeville consists of circular formations of connected asteroids, located at one of the five Lagrange Points in space where the Earth and Moon gravity forces are equal. The points are numbered L1 through L5, with the most stable points L4 and L5, forming equilateral triangles with Earth and the Moon. Lagrangeville occupies a safe halo orbit around L4, while a group of asteroid mining facilities are situated at L5.

It was successful asteroid mining on a large scale, made possible by Chakranautics, which inspired Lagrangeville’s creation. As partially excavated asteroids were often adapted to make habitats for cetaceans and humans, it was decided to move various asteroids of similar size from the mining sites at L5 to the vacant Lagrange Point L4, as a safe location for an advanced complex. At L4 the asteroids have been converted into accommodation and administration modules, while conduit sections connect the modules to form a loop. To compensate for the low natural gravity of asteroids, each of the numerous loops rotate to produce a centrifuge and therefore additional gravity, creating comfortable conditions to live and work in. The asteroid rings are rotated by pointing specific solar panels on each ring towards the Sun in succession, thereby creating continuous momentum while also accumulating additional solar power.

All collected energy supplies are transmitted as low-heat microwave beams to receiving antennas on Earth, where they are converted back into electricity. While producing vast quantities of power independently, Lagrangeville can also relay energy transmissions from New Moon to Earth, whenever required.

The most recently constructed asteroid ring has been designated as the headquarters of Extrasolar Commission (ECo), providing facilities for interstellar missions, as humans and dolphins begin to explore beyond the Solar System.
